Dear Sandy, John, David and Vernon, Your father and brother was quite possibly the most pleasant man I have ever met! I don’t believe a more kind, gentle, patient, caring, welcoming, interesting and interested person could ever be found. I loved all the hours visiting with him, and Ann, hearing his stories and telling him mine; shooting the breeze on the porch and enjoying food, news, nature and friendship together. He was always happy to see anyone who came to visit and treated them all as family. He always had a genuine smile on and a wonderful, sweet laugh that I look forward to hearing again someday. I will dearly miss him saying to me, “Kommen Sie in” when I knocked at the door and “Be careful out there!” As I left. Often I would catch myself almost calling him “dad”! He filled that gap for me, as my own father passed away many years ago. He truly left all who were lucky enough to meet him for the better. Til we meet again, friend!

To all of Bill’s family, I was so sorry to hear of his passing. He was such a sweet man. I worked for him for the last few months off and on to help take care of him. He was always as nice as could be. I loved listening to all of his stories from his childhood and his family and his travels. He had so many to share. He would show me all sorts of pictures from his past. He was always so proud of all that he had done and seen in his life. I am so very happy that I had the chance to get to know him and I truly loved my time I spent with him. He will always be remembered.

Dearest family of Bill, I remember your dear father from my childhood days living in District Heights, MD. He was a lifelong friend of my parents as we lived across the street from Bill and his first wife, Carole. He attended my wedding in 1975, and I remember his kind smile and outgoing personality! I am so sorry for your loss, as I know you will miss him dearly. God bless and keep you all! Love, Carolyn Greenhouse Fuller
