Shelia Hayden Anderson, age 88, passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2024, seven days after losing her older daughter, Priscilla. Shelia was born in Montpelier, Virginia to Sam and Helen Henderson Hayden on September 5, 1935.

Known for her culinary talents, she held a career in food service. She worked in Henrico County Public Schools, first at Virginia Randolph High School, then at J. R. Tucker High, before returning to the Academy at Virginia Randolph where she retired in 1990 as the Food Service Manager.

She leaves this world beloved by her family: children, Carl (Ruby) Anderson and Aretha “Cookie” Armwood; grandson, Kevin (Angela) Anderson; great-granddaughter, Ena B. “Eebie” Logan; son-in-law, James Hooker; grandson-in-law, John “JT” Logan; sisters, Bertha Nicholas and Vivian Taylor; brothers- and sister-in-law, David Winston, John (Bernice) Anderson, Evelyn Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Clarence Melvin Anderson; daughter, Priscilla Ampy Hooker (passed Dec 31, 2023); and granddaughter, Ena Ampy Logan.

Remains rest at Owens Funeral Home, where viewing will be held Thursday, January 11, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, at Abner Baptist Church, 15143 Abner Church Rd, Glen Allen, VA. Interment, Roselawn Memory Gardens, Glen Allen, VA.
