Reatha Mae Jackson was born on May 8, 1947. She passed away peacefully at her home in Bumpass, Virginia, on December 26, 2023. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Junius N. Shelton and Lucy Edmonia Shelton, Dorothy Elizabeth Shelton (sister) James Shelton (brother), and her Grandson, Ronnie Joel Holland.

Reatha became a member of the Mt Olivet Baptist Church at a young age. Reatha was educated in Louisa County Schools. She was employed with Louisa Manufacturing Company for 22 years. Upon the factory closing, Reatha attended trade school where she studied to become a licensed cosmetologist. Reatha had a passion for caring for others, this passion later led her to a career of becoming a Private home caregiver for over 15 years. She pursued this career up until her health issues prevented her from being able to work.

Those who knew Reatha Mae knew her love and dedication to her family. Reatha’s children, grandchildren, and her son-in-law were her world. They were her everything and she would make sure she’d let the world know that they were who she lived for. Reatha Mae Jackson will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. All who knew her will deeply miss her grace, intellect, and kindness.

Reatha leaves behind a legacy of love. Survived by her daughters, Anita Rollins, and Sheila Shelton (Marvin). Her Partner/Love of her life Thomas Buckner, Her 6 grandchildren, Tenika Mcwhirter, Juanita Holland (Derrick), Courtney Shelton, Mimi Shelton, Angelo Shelton and Sheila Joann Holland (Rob), and her 13 great-grandchildren, Quron Young, Dariona Young, Tiana Shelton, Noah Wells, Cameron Poindexter, Messiah Holland, Deja Young, Major Holland, Julian Dowell, Diamond Young, Malaysia Holland, Ralo Allen and Journey Allen, her nieces Gwendonetta Thomas, Gay Williams and Geraldine Shelton, 4 step-children, Ellis Jackson, Terry Buckner, Tommy Buckner, Mia Buckner and her God son Antwan Johnson.

She also leaves behind her only surviving Aunt Lucy Jackson (Pug). Her devoted friends, Loretta Jackson(cousin/sister), Beulah Mines, Deloise Ferguson, Donna Isom, Viola Johnson, Bernadine Henson, Marvin Jackson, Brenda Mallory, Lene Henderson, Edward (BAMBO) Jones, Frederick Shelton, Ronnie & Phyllis Holland and other hosts of relatives and friends.
