Powhatan P. Johnson, son of the late Mildred and Powhatan Johnson departed this life peacefully on March 6th, 2024. He was born September 1, 1949. He was preceded in death by his brother James Johnson.

Powhatan affectionally known as “Powder” attended Hanover County Public Schools. He was employed at the Montpelier Food Center as store clerk for several years.

Powder was loved by many and always had a smile on his face. He always was dressed from head to toe. Powder always had a story or joke to tell. He enjoyed spending his time at the casino playing the slots. It was never a day he wouldn’t be up for a ride to go Charlestown .

Powder also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who he loved dearly. He will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Rosetta Rebecca Johnson; four sons,Darrick Young, Thomas Young, Pourice Shelton and Desmond Morris; thirteen grandchildren,Cortez, Montez, Quron, Darriona, Deja, Diamond, Jayden, Jordan, Adonis, Jakhi, Ravon, Raviana and Rojion; one great grandson Kahari; seven sisters, Virginia (Rosson), Hilda, Shirley, Margaret , Jearline (Melvin), Brenda, Angela ; five brothers,Raymond(Mary), John (Nanie), Calvin, Tony, and Steven; five sister in laws, Katherine Pryor, Loretta Young, Sharon Young, Kern Lipcomb and Joyce Morris (Howard);one brother in law, Albert Young (Vanessa); one aunt ,Juanita Henderson and one great uncle, William Thomas (Emily). In a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives . Devoted friends, Larry James, John Harris and Ellis Robinson.
