Mendell Brooks Jr was born to Mendell and Evelyn Jo Brooks in February 2009. He departed this life on June 8, 2023.

Mendell was favorably called “BB”. He attended Louisa County Public Schools. BB fought a long battle with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a rare genetic disorder that causes muscle weakness and degeneration over time. Though “BB” shared his life with His loved ones for fourteen years, He lived longer than what the doctors expected him to live.

“BB” also enjoyed playing his favorite games on his Xbox. He loved to swim and play with his sister Angel, nephews, and cousins. “BB” was also an encourager and a Joy to be around, His bright smile would brighten anyone’s darkest day. And BB favored the color Red. “BB” was affectionately loved by His parents Rocky and Evelyn, who took great care of him despite life’s challenges.

“BB” was preceded in death by brothers Billy and Randy McCoy; Sister Crystal Weaver, Grandmothers; Josephine Brooks and Ruth Rowe; and Grandpa Raymond Anderson.
He leaves to celebrate His life with Sister Angel (Dwayne) Horton; Trina (Ted) Jones; nephews, cousins, and friends.

IF ROSES GROW IN HEAVEN
If Roses grow in Heaven
Lord, please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother’s arms
and tell her they’re from me.
Tell her that I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there’s an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
