Mark Anthony Thomas was born on January 9, 1967. He surrendered his fight and gained his wings on January 15, 2023, at Stone Springs Hospital Center in Dulles, Virginia. He was the 5th child of the late Lee Roy and Thelma Teen Thomas.

Mark attended the Caroline County Public Schools. He joined Jericho Baptist Church at an early age. Mark was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 12 and struggled throughout adolescence and adulthood with the many stages of that debilitating disease. He loved all sports and was known by all his friends as “Roach”. When he was able to stand, it was hard to beat him at dancing, shooting hoops or shooting pool. Mark’s health restricted his years of employment, but he worked diligently for Tolliver’s Pest Control until his health failed.

Mark returned to Jericho and attended Church and Sunday School when he could. Mark Loved the Lord. Folks say, they would rather see a sermon than hear one, well Mark showed you his sermon every day. He hid his beautiful singing voice, but he loved music and loved to sing. His favorite song was “I believe I Can Fly” by Seal.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Lee Roy Thomas, his mother Thelma T. Thomas and 1 brother, James Randolph ‘Randy’ Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his memory 1 daughter, Shequinta Thomas and 1 son, Teon Thomas Garnett; 2 grandsons, Daemon Manigault and Ja’Kari Carey; 2 sisters, Naomi Hawkins (James) and Teresa Thomas: 1 brother, Vincent Thomas (Tish) all of Ruther Glen, Virginia; 3 nieces, Tanya Hales, Ebony Joacin and Jasmine Jeter; 2 great-nieces, Skylar and Jordan and 3 great nephews, Vladimir, Myles and Austin; 6 aunts, and 3 uncles and a host of cousins and friends. 1 special devoted caretaker, Joyce Fauntleroy and one devoted mentor, Gerald Carter.
