Jaycen Marcus King (Coach King) was born on December 28, 1971, to Donald M. and Marjorie D. King, Sr. God called Jaycen home on December 11, 2023, as God knew it was time for Jaycen to rest.

Jaycen attended Henrico County Public Schools and was a graduate of Hermitage High School. During his time in high school, he played football and basketball, and he received awards for his athletic talents. Jaycen attended Wesley College in Delaware for 2 years where he also played football.

After college, Jaycen returned home to Henrico VA, where he began establishing his life. Jaycen and former spouse, Felicia Nelson, were married on August 9, 1997. During their union, Jaycen became a proud and involved father to his beautiful daughter, Dominique, who he loved tremendously. Jaycen’s love for the game of football caused him to start a coaching career at Tucker High School, where he coached with his brothers. Jaycen made his way back to his alma mater Hermitage High School, where he was a member of the coaching staff for almost 10 years. During his time at Hermitage, Jaycen mentored a lot of the players and made sure they had support throughout their lives. Jaycen was a huge Duke Blue Devil basketball fan as well as a lifelong Washington football fan.

Jaycen loved his family. He always spent quality time with his loved ones, as Jaycen was a big and LOUD fan for his daughter, nieces, and nephews when they were playing sports. Family was very important to Jaycen.

Jaycen was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Bernice King and Edna Scroggins. Jaycen leaves to cherish his memory, his loving daughter Dominique King, his parents Donald and Marjorie King, Sr., brothers; Donald King, Jr. (Alicia), Justin King (Kelli), and Michael Scroggins (Andrea), nieces Erica King and Jessica Lopez (Christohper), nephews Andre King, Jaysean King, and Jayden King, two great nephews, and the mother of his daughter, Felicia Nelson, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
