James Henry Green Jr., 55, of Virginia Beach, VA., slipped away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA.

He was born on March 4, 1967, the eldest of five siblings born to the late James Henry Green and Pearline F. Green. James was known as “Poochie” by his loved ones. He received his education at Caroline County Public Schools.

He was preceded in death by his parents James H. and Pearline F. Green; his maternal grandparents the late Charles, Sr. and Genevieve Freeman; his paternal grandparents the late Robert Henry and Mary Green. James is also preceded in death by three aunts; Margo Braxton, Jane Leigh, and Earlene Robinson; and one uncle Harry “Doc” Freeman; and several cousins.

James leaves to cherish his memories two brothers, Melvin E. and Vondell Green, of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Evelyn Green, of Ruther Glen, VA and Cynthia Green of Glen Allen, VA; his nieces and nephews, Steve Jr., Ricardo, Shyra, Briana, Vondell Jr., Mekayla, Zershawn, Aivon, and Isaiah; a sister- in- law, Sherry Mickens-Green; ten aunts, Clara (Norman), Deloris, Eva, Gloria, Mary, Rosa Lee, Carolyn, (Eric), Shirley, Edith, and Claretha; two uncles, Sylvester, Sr. (Irene) and Charles, Jr. Freeman; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A special thank you to his guardian, Denise of Suffolk, VA and Jewish Family Services. James will be missed by all whom were blessed to know and love him.
