Obituary for Harvey "Roy" Thomas Sr.

Harvey Leroy Thomas (Roy), 72, of Doswell passed away Saturday March 30th, 2019 at Bon
Secours Community Hospice House in Richmond, Virginia.

Harvey was born June 1,1946 to the late Charles R. Thomas and Elenora P. Thomas, in Richmond, Virginia.

Harvey was married to the late Dorothy Anderson Thomas for over 35 years.

He was a resident of Caroline County, and attended Union High School. Harvey worked for Richfood Distribution Center until retirement. While fulfilling his love for truck driving he took ona job at American Steel and Aluminum, where he worked until his health began to fail. He
enjoyed listening to music, tuning in to 105.7.
In his younger years he loved hunting and fishing.

Roy had a love of people always wanting to be in the midst of the “action”, He would often say
“I want to be where the action is at.” Everyone knew he was always the life of the party.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Thomas, his parents Charles and Elenora
Thomas, two brothers Linwood and Charles Thomas and granddaughter Chyna White.

He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Vernetta Johnson (Andre) and Tonya
Johnson. Three sons, Harvey Thomas Jr., Matthew Thomas (Mona), Mark Thomas. Thirteengrandchildren, Tiara, Angel, Ashley, Robert Jr., Brandon, Leila, Dunnevan, Havontae, Jayla, Joshua, Davion, Keona, and devoted grandson and caregiver Matthew. Nineteen
great grandchildren. One brother James R. Thomas Sr. (Doris), 6 sister-in-law’s, 6 brother-in
law’s, two devoted cousins, Jack Thomas and Linwood James, devoted niece, Michelle Thomas
two devoted nephews James Jr. and Kanard Thomas, and a host of family and friends.

Lil Matt and family, I had the pleasure to meet Mr. Thomas several months ago. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He always, and I mean always, would say something that would make me smile and laugh. He was a great spirit and I will always remember him, his smile, and his heart.
