PLEASE NOTE SERVICES HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED!!!!

Priscilla Maclean Anderson Ampy Hooker, 70, unexpectedly passed away on December 31, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born to Clarence Melvin and Shelia Hayden Anderson on May 30, 1953, and raised in Glen Allen (Short Pump), Virginia.

As a middle child, Priscilla grew up with her older brother, Carl, and younger sister, Cookie. She and her siblings enjoyed playing childhood games with cousins at their home and family gatherings with cousins in Montpelier.

Priscilla attended Henrico County Public Schools where she developed an appreciation for learning at the historic Virginia Randolph High School before being transferred to and graduating from J. R. Tucker High in 1971. She furthered her education at Virginia Union University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education.

Priscilla was a beloved educator with a passion for teaching and nurturing her students. Priscilla cared deeply about her students, opening her heart and home to many. She spent 30 years at Laburnum Elementary School, Henrico County, teaching two generations of students before retiring in 2015.

Priscilla had a deep faith in God and was a prayer warrior. She was ordained as a deacon at Westwood Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia, and later served as a deacon at Abner Baptist Church, Glen Allen, Virginia.

If you ever had the pleasure to spend time with her, you would know she was a good listener, cared about people, loved angels, and adored the color orange.

Priscilla is survived by her husband of 14 years, James Nelson Hooker; granddaughter, Ena “Eebie” Logan; mother, Shelia Hayden Anderson; brother, Carl (Ruby) Anderson; sister, Aretha “Cookie” Armwood; son-in-law, John “JT” Logan; nephew, Kevin (Angela) Anderson. She was predeceased by her first husband, Bernard Ampy; daughter, Ena Ampy Logan; and father, Clarence Anderson.

Remains rest at Owens Funeral Services, 104 Green Chimney Ct., Ashland, VA, where viewing will be held Monday, January 8, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, January 9 at the Abner Baptist Church, 15143 Abner Church Rd, Glen Allen, VA.
