Claude Lavern Moore was born in Kenner, Louisiana on October 29, 1955 to Rose Mary Price and departed this life on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Virginia Hospital Center.

In 1962, Claude, his brother Kenneth, his mother Rose along with other members of the Price Family moved to Washington, District of Columbia. After the move to Washington, his mother Rose Price met and married the late Laney T. Moore. Being the loving and caring husband to Rose he officially adopted Claude as his own and raised him.

Claude was educated in the District of Columbia Public School System. He furthered his education at McKinley Technical High School where he was just shy of one credit from graduation in 1974. After high school he worked various jobs in the Washington, DC area. His last job was at the National Airport (now Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport) in food services.

Claude loved going to the movies, writing music and spending time with family and generally would not miss a family gathering. He loved to travel to the various venues for the biennial Price Family Reunion. He loved to laugh and often phoned his cousins Mary Ann Pierre and the late Rose Marie Morgan with the latest news. He loved it when all the cousins would come together for the holidays and birthdays.

In February 2019, Claude joined Canaan Baptist Church in Washington, DC where he was baptized and received the Right Hand of Fellowship under the leadership of Dr. Larry Owens, Jr.
Claude was a devoted and loving son to his mother Rose and had become not just her son, but her companion and protector. They were each other’s caregivers. His siblings never had to worry about their mother knowing he was there with her. They will forever remember his laugh and miss his presence.

He is preceded in death by his father Laney T. Moore, Sr. He leaves to cherish and honor his memory his mother Rose Mary Price Moore, his brothers Kenneth R. Moore, Sr., Laney T. Moore, Jr., his sister Roslyn Moore, uncle Dowell Davis, Sr., nephews Laney T. Moore III, Kenneth R. Moore II, sister-in-love Tammy Moore, sister-cousin Mary Ann Pierre, brother-cousin Robert Nelson and a host of family.
