Carrie Belle Johnson, transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, March 25, 2023, surrounded by family. Carrie, born on January 20, 1935, to Stan and Mary Anderson of Spotsylvania, County Virginia.

Carrie, more affectionately known as “Tilly” was a kind, caring, independent and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. Tilly was a strong woman of faith who faced every challenge in her life with courage, and dignity. She was the source of inspiration for all who met her and will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.

Tilly loved her husband, children, and grandchildren along with her entire family. She instilled the importance of family, hard work and a deep-rooted personal relationship with Christ. Tilly was retired at the time of her death from a long and rewarding career of being a caregiver in the long-term care facility and in-home care settings.

Tilly accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Olive Baptist Church, in Spotsylvania, Virginia. At the time of marriage, she moved her membership to the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, Virginia where she served on the Usher board and the Mass choir for many years. Later in life, Tilly returned to her home church of Mount Olive, where she was bestowed the title of Deaconess. Now that Tilly has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of her physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her.

Tilly was blessed to see eighty-eight years of God’s grace, mercy, love, and healing. Tilly was proceeded in death by her husband: James “Jack”, parents: Stan and Mary, two children: Yvonne and James II, five sisters: “Missy”, “Polly”, Tidie, “Lois” and “Ginny and three brothers: Ernest, Arthur, and William. Tilly’s memory will be cherished by her children” John “Haywood” Lewis, Stanley “Sandy” Johnson (Patricia), Betty “Boo Boo” Davis (Macon), Carrie “Rochelle” Jackson, Sheila Brooks (Bryan), Zona “Lolita” Elmore (Kevin) and Tara Johnson; Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, a devoted niece and health advocate, Adelaide “Addie” Buckner along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
