Anthony “Tony” Thornton, was a native of Norfolk, Virginia and was born to James Thornton & Virginia Lewis. He was born on February 24, 1952 and departed on July 11, 2021.

As a young man Tony moved to Spotsylvania, VA & spent many years employed as a realtor, contractor, & car salesman.

He always had a smile on his face & loved to make everyone he met laugh. Tony loved spending his time with his family, being outside, & playing golf.

Despite his illness, he was never known to complain.

He is survived by his daughters Toni Robertson of Norfolk, VA, Amber Ford of Greensboro, NC, Kelly Thorne of Caroline, VA, and Taylor Thornton of Spotsylvania, VA; eight grandchildren, Kara and Ethan Ford of Greensboro, NC, Shanay Robinson, Glenn Robinson, Antonio Robinson, Jerril Robinson, William Goodmam, and Shania Davis of Norfolk, VA; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Thornton (Karen Thornton) of Charlottesville, VA, Wesley Lewis of Norfolk, VA, Craig Thornton of Chesapeake, Va, and Kelvin Thornton of Fredericksburg, VA (deceased); one sister, Dorthea Brooks of Polk County, FL; son-in-law Brian Ford, of Greensboro, NC and son-in-law Martin Robertson of Norfolk,VA; sister-in-law LaShorne Lewis of Norfolk, VA; brother-in-law George Brooks of Polk County, FL; a host of other relatives & devoted friends.
