Alexander “Alec” Leroy Dandridge, 79 of King William, Va. passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023. He was born to the late William and Dorothy Wood Dandridge. Alec received his education through the New Jersey Public School System and later moved back to Richmond, Va. where he finished his education. He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church of Hanover, Va. He worked at Richfood Inc. for many years before moving to Washington D.C. where he retired from the District of Columbia Public School System. He later moved back to Virginia and worked part time at Hanover County Public Schools until his health began to fail.

Alec loved his cars, especially keeping them nice and clean. He also enjoyed going to the racetrack.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Mary Dandridge; a son Alexander Dandridge Jr; his brothers Arthur Dandridge Sr. and Lawrence Dandridge; and his sisters Dorothy McPhearson and Ethel Moore all of King William, Va. He leaves to cherish his memories five children, Therman (Otis) Hill, Carl Dandridge Sr., Alvis Dandridge(Rita), Debbie Dandridge, and Angela Dandridge all of King William, Va.; nine grandchildren, Tenea Hardy( Mike), Sharnica Hill, Chiquita Hill, Carl Dandridge Jr., Jessica Dandridge, Rachelle Dandridge, Anissa Hill, Lynn Smith Jr., and India Dandridge; five great- grandchildren, E’Maya Walker, Dashaun Hardy, Mal-aki Banks, Keshaun Butler, and Zarren Dandridge. He is survived by his siblings, Ella Mae Lewis, Lloyd Dandridge of King William, Va., Gloria Williams of Richmond, Va., brother in law Elwood Hill of Richmond, Va. sister in law Vivian Roane of King William, Va. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
