Helen Jones

Helen Delois Jones peacefully entered eternal rest early in the morning on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Laurels of University Park Nursing Home. She was born on July 28,1944 to the late John A. Jones, Sr. and Edmonia T. Jones of Beaverdam, Virginia. Helen was the 9th of 11 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers John Jr. and George Jones, 6 sisters Hester Taylor, Catherine Harris, Emma Lewis, Mary Burton, Edith Winters and Joyce Thomas.

Early in her life, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Union Baptist Church Beaverdam. After moving to Richmond she attended several churches regularly.
Helen graduated from John M. Gandy High School Ashland, Virginia in 1963. She retired from Cadmus formerly William Byrd Press after 30 years of service.

Helen was a loving, kind and fun person. She enjoyed family gatherings. She will be remembered by family and friends for the yearly birthday calls. She remembered everybody’s birthday. On your birthday you received a call, and she would sing happy birthday, and you couldn’t interrupt until she had finished. Helen was known for her fancy custom made church hats.

She leaves to cherish her memory 1 daughter Tanya Jones (Louis), 5 grandchildren Edmonia Jones, Malcolm, Imani, Siia and SaRita Bailey, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 sister Alice “Retta “Powell, 1 brother William “Pete” Jones (Diane), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She meant so much to so many. She will be greatly missed.

How blessed are we who put our trust in God.
For no matter how difficult it is to bear the pain of parting,
We have His promise, that one day we will be reunited
With those who have gone on before us to our heavenly home.
