June 20, 1955 - July 30, 2022
William Cornell Young was born on June 20, 1955, in Fredericksburg, VA to the late William Obed Young and Lillian Louise Young.
Affectionately known as “Connie or Cotton Picker”, he lived a long, blessed life. He was educated in the Caroline County Public School System at Madison Elementary and Petersburg Training School. Connie worked at General Motors under the Rappahannock Area Community Service Work Program. His favorite past times were: chewing Big Red and Doublemint gum, fishing, gardening, driving the lawnmower, riding with relatives/mom, watching Jeopardy (favorite category was The Bible), watching westerns, and using medical equipment (cane, walker) which he didn’t need. He had the greatest memory and could talk for hours, even if know one was talking back to him. He made friends with anyone he met and was loved by all.
Connie accepted Christ at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, Virginia where he served on the Usher Board for many years. He joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Supply, Virginia in 2007 where he served on the Men’s Ministry and the Usher Board faithfully until his health begin to fail.
He was blessed to see sixty-seven years of God’s grace and mercy. Connie was preceded in death by his father, William O. Young and niece Brittany Moore. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Lillian Young, two sisters Carolyn Marshall (Lee) and Tina Woolfolk (Irving); two brothers Durwood Young (Evelyn) and Charles Young (Sherita); nieces Quiana Woolfolk, Jasmine Moore, Kaylah Young, Lucretia Young; nephews Alonzo Young (Aubre), Darius Young, Christopher Young, Quinton Woolfolk, Logan Woolfolk; four great nephews; one great niece; two aunts Helen Claiborne and Yvonne Akins; three aunt in-laws and a host of cousins, friends and church family. He also leaves his best friend and uncle, Freddie Boone, who was like a second father.
