August 11, 1931 - February 8, 2021
Pauline Wilson King, 89, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest at ManorCare Health Care Center on Monday, February 8, 2021.
Pauline was born on August 11, 1931 to the late Lucy Wilson. She was reared in Caroline Co. by her grandfather, the late Rev. Abraham Wilson. Pauline was preceded in death by her beloved son, Charles Leon Wilson; and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Pauline attended the Hampton Institute for the Blind, where she learned the reading and writing of Braille, as well as life and social skills, self-advocacy and mobility skills, alongside traditional academic subjects. After graduating from the Hampton Institute for the Blind, Pauline returned to Richmond, Virginia to live. She became employed by the The Richmond Dept for the Blind, where she worked on an assembly line for 40 years, before she retired.
Pauline accepted Christ at an early age, and she was baptized at Third Mount Zion Baptist Church, Woodford, VA. She later joined Cedar Street Baptist Church, where she faithfully sang on the BJ Robinson Choir for over 40 years. Pauline loved her church and she loved to sing. Even after her health began to fail, you could turn on the tv to Cedar Street, and see her sitting in the last seat, on the far right side, in the alto section.
Leaving to cherish her memory, a sister, Dorothy (Dot) Boyd of Kingstree, South Carolina; two great nieces, Rhonda Higgins, and Rachel Boyd, (both of Baltimore MD); a host of beloved cousins; a devoted cousin, Tammie A. Pulliam; and a devoted friend, Betty Johnson.
