Thelma M. Southall was born on October 20, 1919, in Jetersville, VA, to Snotie Motley and Richard Wingal. Thelma grew to love the Lord very young and dedicated her life to serving and helping others. Thelma opened her heart and home to a host of children. You can say that she raised many and treated them all as if they were her own. Later in life Thelma met and married James Southall who preceded her in death after many happy years of marriage. Thelma had such a gentle way of touching everyone’s life who came in contact with her. She loved to cook and quite often fed her neighbors. Thelma was dedicated to her church home Pilgrim’s Baptist Church and visited as often as possible (hence) every Sunday. She would get so excited about Pilgrim’s yearly revival. Thelma had many hobbies but the ones she loved the most were fishing, crossword puzzles, and planting. For many years, Thelma worked as a housekeeper at Buddies Motel. She also helped deliver children as a midwife. Thelma loved her family and was often there for everyone. She would always say “God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Thelma had a heart full of love and showed it wherever she went. Thelma leaves behind Charles Blake, Kenneth Dickerson, Tony Dickerson, Nettie Dickerson, Betty Foster, Mary Wingal, Ramon Johnson, Angie Johnson, Arthur Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and her church family. |
