Eric Jerome Lewis, born on January 21, 1948, in Ashland, Virginia, to Frances Tinsley Lewis and Ollie Lewis II, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and passion for cars. He was the beloved brother of Leonard, Ollie III, and Katherine. Baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church, Eric maintained a close and enduring relationship with the Lord throughout his life. A proud graduate of John M. Gandy High School and attended Virginia State University, Eric also served honorably as a United States veteran. In 1967, at the age of 19, Eric married his lifetime love, Earlene Lewis, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage until Earlene’s passing in 2019. Together, they raised two daughters, Ericka and Natasha. Eric’s passion for cars began early and became both a cherished hobby and a long-lasting career. He began his professional journey teaching others about cars before joining General Motors, where he worked for over 30 years as a Training Center instructor, manager, and regional manager. After retiring, Eric continued his involvement in the industry as a consultant and also enjoyed substitute teaching in high schools. Weekends were often spent traveling with Earlene to car shows across the country, where they proudly displayed their collection and built lasting friendships. His prized vehicles included a 1934 Chevy, a 1939 Chevy, a 1956 Chevy, and a 1967 Camaro, among others he lovingly restored and showcased. Above all, Eric was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His love for his family was unwavering, and his kindness and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. |
