Pattie Ribble Chappell, 92, of Henrico, Virginia, was born on November 20, 1931, in Charlottesville, Virginia. The daughter of an Episcopal minister, Pattie and her husband Jack were saved and filled with the Holy Ghost when Ruth Heflin came for dinner in June 1967. Mentored by Ruth’s father and mother, they grew in the faith by prayer and fasting, and travel overseas and seeing astonishing miracles. In 1970, John Chappell sold his business, and the family went full time for the Lord into over 42 countries. John passed into glory January 1, 2014, while walking and praying. Pattie continued in active ministry until a year before God called her home. She is survived by four children: Constance Chappell Horne (Jim), Daniel G. Chappell (Hoang), Margaret R. Wilder (Alan), John R. Chappell IV (Jennifer), 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Chappell, III, her sister Margaret Ribble Caruthers, her brother W. Leigh Ribble, Jr, and her parents Rev W. Leigh Ribble Sr. and Constance Strobel Ribble. Pattie was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, missionary, teacher and friend whose presence brought joy to all who knew her. Raised during the depression, she watched her parents struggle in ministry due to lack of food and finances. Nonetheless, Pattieās parents and grandparents instilled in her the values of faith, integrity, and perseverance. Raised in a loving home, her childhood was full of much joy and laughter. Pattie found immense joy in simple pleasures such as gardening, sewing, and quilting. And of course, she loved Coke, coffee, and cookies! (Vanilla Fingers!) Her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire us all. Pattie is ecstatic today because she is at peace–basking in the presence of her wonderful Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. |
