Patrice Mae Sims, fondly known as “Sweetie,” transitioned to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA. She was born to Ruby L. Harris and the late Melvin A. Winston on March 28, 1957. She attended Caroline County Public Schools. At an early age, she accepted the Lord as her Savior and became a member of Jericho Baptist Church. Patrice was always a hard worker. She started her work career at Tyson Foods Inc. formerly known as Holly Farms. She spent a number of years at Quebecor Printing in Henrico, VA as well. Her last place of employment was with Sauer Brands of Richmond, VA where she had hoped to retire from. She was one of six children and she was full of life. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. She enjoyed telling stories about Shakur and Kwame and sharing the latest thing Zhuri said to keep her in line. Patrice was known for giving it to you straight and you could always count on her not to sugar coat ANYTHING! She loved watching tennis, singing and dancing (she always wanted to be the lead). In her free time, she enjoyed trips to the casino with one of her sisters and ordering things online as long as someone else did the ordering. After years of hard work, perseverance, and determination, she was finally able to purchase her dream home. Patrice was preceded in death by her father, Melvin A. Winston and her brother, Larry Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Ruby L. Harris, one son: Shelby Tyrone Sims (Kenya), one daughter: Jasmine Lee (Lemond), two grandsons: Shakur Sims and Kwame Sims, one granddaughter: Zhuri Lee, four sisters: Ruby Bailey (Terrance), Lucinda Sims, Shannon Harris, and Shenelle Harris, two brothers: James Sims (Lucy), Reginald Johnson. One devoted and loyal aunt, Fannie Harris (Richard), three devoted and loyal friends Viola Johnson, Sharon Beasley and Bonnie Robinson (Gregory). As well as a host of other family and friends. |
