Geraldine Stevens Baylor quietly entered eternal rest on December 23rd, 2023. She was born on July 28th, 1940, in Caroline County, VA. She was the 9th of ten children, born to the late James H and Mary Paige Stevens. Geraldine received her education in the Caroline County Public School System. Geraldine was known for her cooking skills. For many years she worked at the Holiday Inn and the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, VA. She had the distinguished opportunity to cook for James Brown, Marvin Gaye, the Jackson 5 and other artists that came to the Richmond area. In later years, she retired from Holly Farms, in Glen Allen, VA. Geraldine joined Second Mount Zion Baptist Church in Dawn, VA at an early age. She later dedicated her life to God and became a faithful member of the church until her health declined. Geraldine was a woman of style. She was known for her impeccable clothes selection. She could truly wear a hat and flash her classy jewelry. She looked forward to the holidays to cook for her family and friends. She was known for her rice pudding, fried chicken and macaroni and cheese. If you have ever spent any time with Geraldine, she was known to have a jar full of lollipops. You could also catch her enjoying a lollipop or two while visiting with her. On May 31st, 1958, Geraldine married the late Warren Roscoe Baylor, Sr. Precious memories of Geraldine will remain forever with her three daughters; Pandora Cosby (Leslie), Carolyn Booker, (Curtis), Mary Lynch (Eric); two sons; Kenneth Baylor, Tracy Baylor, Sr. (Priscilla), 12 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great, Great Grandchild; Goddaughter, Alice Snead, Devoted Brother; Watt Stevens (Delores), Two Sister-in-laws, Louise Ferguson and Janette Washington (Edward), Two Brother-in-laws; Eugene Rollins and Frederick Theirry (Mindy), a devoted niece; Glendora Rollins (Travis), devoted friends; Clara James, Dorothy James and Jeanette Jones and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Geraldine was preceded in death by her son, Warren Roscoe Baylor, Jr. and her daughter-in-law, Durcellia Baylor., Three sisters; Lousie Quash, Virginia Rollins, Nellie Jennings, Five Brothers; Milton, Irvin, Sidney, Vincent and Roland. |
