Sterling VanDyke Baylor, Sr. was born in Fredericksburg, VA on June 30, 1960 to the late Allen Davis Baylor, Sr. and Pearl Lena Baylor. He entered into his eternal life on Monday, August 14, 2023 at his family home surrounded by loved ones. Sterling was a long-time resident of Washington, DC, a home which he shared with the love of his life Stephanie Faye Reed, who preceded him in death by only 3 months. Together they enjoyed watching the Redskins play football, and spending most of their time with family, especially those grandkids. Sterling also enjoyed joyriding in his 1968 Barracuda. Prior to him passing, he was able to get up and drive his Barracuda once more down the long road of Smith Town as fast as he could and that put the biggest smile on his face. Sterling loved to make people laugh with his hilarious jokes. He had a language that only he understood with his funny made-up words. You were definitely leaving with a smile on your face after being around him long enough. Sterling would give his last to anyone but his love for his children and family was stronger than anything. Sterling spent many years employed by Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. as a senior floor technician and spent two years with the Australian Embassy as a driver for the Ambassador. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Georgia Jett & brother Allen D. Baylor, Jr. Sterling leaves to cherish his memories his loving children, Angie Smith of King George, VA, Sterling V. Baylor, Jr. of Tacoma, WA & Shamara R. Baylor of Washington, D.C., sisters Mary (Lavern) Baylor |
