Dea'ness Frances A. Pleasants

Deaconess Frances Alberta Pleasants was born July 17, 1940, in Ruther Glen, Virginia to the late Abraham and Leona Anderson of Caroline County. She departed this earthly life in Richmond, Virginia, on Saturday, June 24, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elon Pleasants and her daughters, Ruth and Angela Pleasants. Her siblings Jean Anderson; Shirley Anderson; her brothers, Theodore, and Howard Anderson; her niece Sherry Denise Lenear, and her nephew Robert Lenear Jr.

Mom attended Union High School, in Bowling Green, VA. At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized. Frances was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church, Ruther Glen, VA. In her earlier years, she served as an usher and later became the President of the Usher board.

She was joined in holy matrimony with Elon M. Pleasants on September 19, 1960. From that union, they had six children, Gloria M. Roberts-Porter, Richmond, VA, Elon Pleasants, (Joann), Randolph, MA; Ethel Hayes (Robert) Richmond, VA; and Shirley Pleasants, Alexandria, VA. She also leaves to mourn her sister Deaconess Deloise Sims-Mallory (Rev. William), Richmond, VA, and her sister in-law Christine Pleasants of Ruther Glen, VA. She leaves Eddie & Samuel Roberts, Rolando and Rick Pleasants, Morgan and Gabrielle Hayes, and Diamond Pleasants. A devoted nephew, Robert Sims. Two devoted nieces, Ethel Smith-Johnson, Pelham, NH, and Gwendolyn Pleasants-Green of Ruther Glen, VA. Frances was particularly fond of Cambridge Ware and her best childhood friend, Gloria Barnes.

Frances was employed as an au pair for two special families. She was particularly fond of Douglas and Cindy Wilson and their two kids, Houston, and Mary-Douglas.
Mom loved the Lord! She was a friend to many people. She loved to talk and especially about her family. A day would not pass, that she did not call Ethel (Sis), Mae, Gloria Barnes, Ethel Hayes, and even if she could not speak to Lois and Shirley, she always left a message for them.
