On May 11, 2023, God called Roy Lee Thomas to his heavenly home. He was born on March 6, 1982, in Henrico County to Raymond Lee Brown and the late Judy Thomas. Roy is preceded in death by his very devoted grandmother who he affectionately called “manma”, Rosa Waddy; mother, Judy Thomas; brothers, Tyrell and Daniel; and his niece, Kimaya. At eight years old, on November 11, 1990, Roy was baptized by Reverend William Harvey at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. He attended Henrico County Public Schools. Roy continued his education and followed his dreams of becoming a tractor trailer truck driver. He loved; I mean absolutely loved his position at Pitt Ohio as an over the road tractor trailer truck driver. With Pitt Ohio, Roy traveled the mountains of West Virginia in his cowboy boots cruising to his country music listening to hits like Brooks & Dunn Neon Moon. Roy was The Hulk on the outside and Chris Rock on the inside. He would make you laugh with tears to follow. Roy was a gentle giant, A peaceful humbled man. He wasn’t into riding and hanging out; He was quite the introvert, but Roy would enjoy cookouts in his younger brother’s backyard. He and his brother, Domonic, were best friends. As whipper snappers to men, their bond was tight, and secrets always kept under lock and key. After getting off work at 5:00AM, Roy and Domonic would walk their neighborhoods talking to each other over the phone for three to four hours. They would talk about healthy eating and share each other’s playlist of music on Spotify. Roy was always ready to help Domonic whenever he called, but not on a Sunday. For Roy would say with love “If I have to put on pants, I ain’t going.” Roy leaves to cherish his memories; father, Raymond Lee Brown; very loving and devoted stepmother, Melanie Brown; younger brother and best friend, Domonic (Alisha); siblings, Duronchelo, Shameka, Janay, Dena, and Jerode; one devoted aunt, Angie Thomas; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. |
