Keyeon Jalynn-Josiah Johnson, 23 years old, passed away suddenly the morning of Monday, April 24, 2023 in Stafford, VA. Keyeon was born November 2, 1999 to Vashona Johnson and Carl Brazzle at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Next to Vashona when Keyeon quietly entered the world was Keyeon’s future Godmother, Janette Holland and his future Spiritual mother, Pastor Jeanette Coats. A story often told by Vashona is that Keyeon’s head was pointy when he was born so his future Godmother, Janette, massaged his head resulting in the wonderfully shaped head he had. When Keyeon was 4 years old, he went to live with his Godparents, Janette and Gary Holland in Stafford, VA. He would spend the majority of the year with the Hollands and he would spend most Summers and many weekends with the Johnson family. During elementary, middle and high school, Keyeon did very well in school and you’ll find many pictures posted in Facebook by his mother and his Godparents of his excellent report cards. Keyeon attended Winding Creek Elementary, Rodney Thompson Middle and Colonial Forge High. During his early years, he played football for the Stafford Bengals and Stafford Wolverines and Stafford Parks and Recreation basketball. Keyeon and his family were very proud of the success he had in the Army JROTC program at Colonial Forge. He received regular promotions and excelled during the 2 years he participated in this program. It was during middle school when Keyeon understood salvation through Jesus Christ and he confessed Christ as his Savior, followed by Baptism by Apostle Duane I. Coats, Sr. of Word of Faith Christian Church where he was a lifelong member. During his years at Word of Faith, Keyeon was active in youth ministry, sang in the youth choir, served as a youth Usher and a youth Deacon. Keyeon had plans to join the Army after High School, but his plans changed and he worked different types of jobs. Everyone that knew Keyeon always talked about his beautiful smile, kind heart, hard work ethic, level of respect toward others and how much he loved his parents, Godparents, siblings, family and friends. The Lord has called Keyeon home and he’s now in a place of eternal peace. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Shelia Johnson, grandfather William Murphy, and spiritual father Apostle Duane Coats, Sr. Keyeon leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Vashona Johnson, father Carl Brazzle, Godparents Gary & Janette Holland; Siblings Kaleb Johnson, Keyliah Johnson, Keyra Brazzle, Keyamiah Johnson, Adrian Bridges, Jasmine (Holland) Lewings, Brandi (Holland) Coleman, Kenya Holland and Matthew Holland; uncles Tony Johnson and William Murphy, Jr.; grandmother Karen Murphy; Nana Joyce “Peaches” King, aunts Lynn Murphy and LaTanya Taylor, Spiritual Mother, Overseer Jeanette Coats, dear friend Devaughn Miller a host of family and friends and a young lady that was very special to Keyeon, Anna. |
