“Come unto me, all that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 After nearly a year of hope, prayer, and obedience to His purpose, on Saturday, January 21, 2023, God’s promise was fulfilled, and our beloved P.J. was called home to rest. After graduation, P.J. had the opportunity to pursue his field of study through positions in a hospital and in laboratories. Yet, it was his entrepreneurial spirit and creative talent that led him to become owner of The Man Cave, a barber shop catering to male and female clientele. P.J. was an innovator who took pride in his work and the customers he served. He was passionate about his craft and constantly developed ideas to improve his services and the growth of his business. Throughout the years he participated and competed in industry events and engaged in professional development that trained him in areas such as specialized cutting techniques, massage therapy, and hair micropigmentation, in which he was especially skilled. P.J. accepted Christ in his formative years and was a very spiritual person. He attended churches in Virginia and Washington, DC where he resided and maintained his church membership in Maryland. He often reflected on scriptures and spoke about how he relied upon the Godly lessons that he had learned from his mother and his grandmother. Those lessons were foundational to his character. P.J. leaves to cherish his memories a loving mother, Cynthia B. Okemmuo, Lynchburg, Virginia; a devoted father, Peter A. Okemmuo, Sr., Salisbury Maryland; an uncle, Paul Bevley, IV (Linette) Charlotte, North Carolina; an aunt, Regina Dianne Lynch, Lynchburg, Virginia; a godmother, Elois Lawrence (Limos), Snellville, GA; a big sister, Bevley Green (Andre) Mobile, Alabama; two big brothers, Rev. Larry Owens, Jr. (LaWanda) Mechanicsville, Virginia and Sherrod Owens (Adrailya) Henrico, Virginia; two younger sisters, Ritalucy Okemmuo, Maryland and Theresa Okemmuo, Onitsha, Anambra State Nigeria; two nieces, ReNata Owens, Mechanicsville, Virginia and Lauren Green, Mobile, Alabama; a nephew, Andre (AJ) M. Green, Jr., Mobile, Alabama; three cousins, Renaldo (R.J.) Lynch, II and Ryan Lynch, Lynchburg, Virginia, and Adrien Faye (Olivier) Richmond, Virginia; his friend, Hyewon, who continues to love and care for his beloved dog, Max; and a host of relatives, church members, and friends. |
