Mrs. Eleanor Twiggs, 81, returned home to her Father on the night of May 31, 2022 after battling sepsis in the hospital. She resided in Hanover, VA. She was born on Feb 5, 1941 in Ruther Glen, VA to the late Mrs. Fannie B. Woolfolk and Mr. Alfred Johnson. She was married to the late Phillip Twiggs and had four children, one of whom passed away, Mitchel W. Twiggs. Eleanor accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Caroline County Public schools. She went on to become a Jill of all trades making her trek to Boston, MA, where she was known to many as a community icon and a mother figure. While enhancing the beauty of the city around her, she touched countless lives at the local community center. Affectionately known as “Ms. El,” she coached the Ebony’s Softball Team and created endless fashion shows personally designing and sewing most of the garments. Moving back home to be closer to family in Caroline County, she continued to perfect her craft in all different fields. One of her favorite pastimes included weekly yard sales with her sister Eliza. With these purchases and her eye for interior design, she would often decorate and re-arrange everyone’s housing decor. She will always be remembered for her perfection of Christmas lights and decorations around the neighborhood. Among these, her personal light is what shines the brightest in our memories. She raised many of her grandchildren and was like a second Nana to many kids in the community. Eleanor was one of ten fun, loving children and her death was preceded by her sisters Mrs. Eliza M. Cosby, Mrs. Vandelia Davis, Mrs. Lucille Moore, and Mrs. Iolia J. Lee and her brothers Mr. Norman Johnson and Mr. William Johnson. She leaves the family legacy to her surviving siblings Mrs. Margaret Moore, Mr. Kenneth Johnson and Mr. Michael Woolfolk. She will be cherished in memory by her surviving children Don Twiggs, Renee Twiggs and Connie Twiggs (Wayne Hill); her late grandchild Tia. R. Twiggs and surviving grandchildren: Mitchell Lee Twiggs, Don Twiggs Jr., Wyatt “Skip” Foster, Myeisha Twiggs, Mercedes Bell, Prentiss Twiggs; her great grandchildren Khali Twiggs, Naiaja Smith, Naimir Smith, Joshua Jones II, Aiden Twiggs, Jayden Peters-Twiggs, Tia M. Twiggs, and Olivia Twiggs; daughter in law Vicky Bell and a host of nieces, nephews and other cherished relatives. II Timothy 4:7-8 |
