Deacon Winston Lee Henry departed this life peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at home. He was born on October 27, 1937 in Ashland, VA to the late Patty R Henry Cash and George H Cash. He graduated from John M Gandy in Ashland, VA. He moved to Florence, New Jersey after graduating. He made a lifelong career as an aircraft mechanic at McGuire Airforce Base in Wrightstown, NJ for 26 years. He served in The Air Force Reserves for 20 years. He served in Operation Desert Storm for 2 terms. He received many awards and medals during his service. He retired honorably as an E6 Tech sergeant on October 26,1997 as a member of the 514thMXS Fuel system Repair Shop. On August 13, 1966 Winston was united in Holy matrimony to Elaine Chapman, to this union 3 children were born. At a very young age Winston was baptized and became a member of Providence Baptist Church. After his move to New Jersey he joined Saint Paul Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon and served until his move back to VA on April 22, 1997. He was then ordained as a deacon at Providence Baptist Church where he remained a part of until the Lord called him home. Winston leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and dedicated wife Elaine C Henry of 55 years who remained faithfully by his side. 1 son Winston Jr (Kim), 2 daughters Natasha Turner (Troy), Christina Malave, 5 grandchildren Taresa, Tyrek, Ty’kara, Siere, Troy Jr, 1 great grandchild Desire, 2 sisters Patricia, and Jean, 1 brother “Sugarfoot” 3 sister-in-law’s Mary, Daisey, (James), Audrey, (Edward) 5 brothers-in-law Donald, Edward, Gary, Lionel (Regina), Lional (Jacqueline) And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Close friends Sheri Mines Desimona Law, Dondi Lennitt, and Gladys Cooper, who were his watching eyes, helping hands and listening ears in his time of need. Lifelong friends Gene Folly, Matthew Folly, Bryant Henry, Vernon Hill, and Douglas Hill. Devoted niece and nephew Desiree and Norman Russell who were there until the very end. |
