Myra C. Fox, born on October 18, 1954, departed this life on December 19, 2021. After years in the foster care system, Myra was placed in a God-fearing home and raised with love by Paul and Ethel Pendleton. She received her education in the Spotsylvania County School System and pursued a degree in Psychology at Germanna Community College and the University of Phoenix. In 1975, Myra was filled with the Holy Ghost and became a dedicated and loyal member of the Church of God and True Holiness organization. Myra loved the Lord, loved singing and was always willing to serve. You could always count on Myra to sing during devotional service, she loved her congregational songs and enjoyed singing as a member of the True Holiness Adult Choir. For many years, Myra served as the choir director for the “Sunbeams Children’s Choir”. Known throughout the community for her fashion, Myra used that as an opportunity to serve as well; she was so loved by the community that stores would donate brand new fashionable clothes for the youth to model in the fashion shows she coordinated at the church. Myra also served as the lead usher of the Usher Board, a position she loved and poured her heart into by learning the proper procedures, hand gestures and dress code so she could properly train many of the youth in our church that still serve today. Myra’s year in the foster care system inspired her to write a series of books about her life story and her journey of survival. Her book series, “I Survived … A Murder Untold” opened the door for Myra to become an inspirational speaker and the founder of a non-profit organization, The Castle Lewis I Survived Foundation, in 2009. Her mission was to help aged out of foster care children and the local community with their emergency and immediate needs. Myra loved helping people and would give her last if it would help someone in need. Myra was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Cecilia Johnson/Lewis; foster parents, Paul and Ethel Pendleton; her sisters, Castle Lewis and Denise Mary Fitzgerald; and her beloved daughter, LaSonja Fox. Myra leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Shereica (Arthur) Smith; three granddaughters, Mypri Fox, Castle Campbell and Myracle Fox; her great-grandson, Sir Crutchfield; her brothers Lamont Ellsworth Redfield, Tyrone Lewis, Paul Pendleton, Jr., Kenny Pendleton, Jeff Pendleton, Jerome Davis and Jose Pendleton; her sisters Willette Victoria Minor, Requal Coleman Barbour, Samantha Callahan, Shaunta Pendleton and Melissa Pendleton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and Godchildren whom she loved to the moon and back. She also leaves to cherish her memory, Robert (Charlotte) Fox; Phyllis Fox and a best friend of over 45 years, Estelle Samuels. |
