Keith D. Prince, Sr.

Today, we celebrate the life of Keith Darnell Prince, Sr. of Glen Allen, VA who was born on May 1, 1974, the oldest of four children. From an early age, his parents Alice and Clyde Dabney instilled in him the values of love, respect, sharing, and caring.
At an early age, Keith was baptized and joined St. James Baptist Church in Beaverdam, Virginia. In his spiritual journey, his affiliations also included Cedar Street Baptist Church and St. Peter Baptist Church. He would often accompany his uncles, Dr. A. Carl Prince and the late Rev. Jonathan Prince, Sr. They taught him the importance of playing an active role in church and he served faithfully.

Keith joined in holy matrimony to Marna Lewis on May 11, 2002. To that union were born three children, Keith Jr., Michaela, and Mia. He showed his family the importance of Christian values, unconditional love, and generosity. He demonstrated strength, courage, fortitude, and resilience. Most importantly, he instilled the love of God in their lives. He prayed fervently with them and for them. He often recited “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength”- Deuteronomy 6:5. He had a powerful voice and boisterously sang the old hymns of the church throughout the house.

Keith’s wife and children were the pride of his life. His joy was spending quality time with them. Keith loved the company of others. Family to him included not only his immediate family, but embraced his extended family, friends, and neighbors. He was also a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, friend, and caring uncle. He was affectionately known as Big Keith or Big Chief to his devoted cousin Benita Harvey and friends Maurice Smith, Jay Smith, and Jamal Martin.

Keith’s favorite activities included spending time with family and friends, watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers, fishing, hunting, grilling, coaching youth sports, and making people laugh. He was also a proud Prince Hall Mason serving as a member of H.L. Harris Lodge 237 where he was always willing to volunteer, assist and lead when needed. To know Keith was to love him. He lived loudly, shared generously, and loved unselfishly.

Keith attended Henrico County Public Schools. After graduating in 1993, He attended Virginia Union University. Prior to his illness, Keith was employed by Community Intervention Associates as their Quality Assurance Manager. He assisted with their mental health program development, research, and compliance.

He leaves a legacy that will be carried on through his children, nieces, nephews, family, and friends that will never be forgotten. He was loved dearly and will be missed greatly. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Marna of 19 years, his loving children, Keith Jr., Michaela, and Mia, his devoted parents, Alice and Clyde Dabney, three sisters, Keisha, Kacey, Katrina (Russell), three sisters-in-laws, Lurlean Walker (Dexter), Danielle Wright (Ahmad), & Bria Martin (Jamal), a dedicated uncle, Dr. A. Carl Prince (Princess), supportive aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
