Luther Parrish Fleming, Jr. of Odenton Maryland, transitioned unexpectedly from his home to eternity on June 15, 2021. Luther was born to the late Luther and Lizzie Fleming, Sr. on September 14, 1943. Luther accepted the Lord as his Savior early in life and became a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Manakin-Sabot, VA. He was preceded in death by daughter Chantel Fleming and son Gerald Winston. He graduated from Central High School in Goochland, VA In 1962. He attended Virginia Union University graduating with a degree in business. He was a devoted employee of City Hall in Richmond, VA for many years until he pursued his passion to drive trucks. Wanting to work for himself, Luther started his own trucking company, L.P. Fleming, Jr. Trucking, Inc., where he worked tirelessly until he retired. He had a passion for Westerns and Star Trek TV shows. Luther enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and working on his trucks. He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Sandra Fleming; eight daughters, Linda Burwick (Robert) of Prince George’s County, VA, Darlene Conyers (Meredith) of Richmond, VA, Jessical Barner (Levar) of Stafford, VA, Janet Turner-Ezell of Richmond, VA, Shantel Branch -Fleming (Patricia) of Minnesota, Alisha Washington of Landover, MD, Candice Washington of Odenton, MD, and Traesha Derricott (Onyeka) of Landover, MD.; three sons, Frederick Winston of Goochland, VA, Luther P. Fleming, III (Kisha) of Harwood, MD, and Brian Fleming of Chesterfield County, VA; twenty three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother Herman L. Fleming, Sr. (Linda); two nieces Rachel Harris (J.T.), and Sandy Simmons (Dallas); four brothers- in-laws, Randy Derricott (Cacheeta), Robbie Derricott (Glenda), Marvin Derricott, Sr. (Patty), and Vincent Derricott; and a host of other loving family members and friends. We love you and will forever miss you. |
