Larry Darnell Johnson called “Tut” by family and friends was the oldest son of the late Oliver Johnson, Jr. and Marion Lois Minor. He was born in Caroline County, Virginia December 24, 1954 and entered eternal rest on June 5, 2021. He was married to Wilhelmina Harris in 1995, who preceded him in death. Tut attended Caroline County Public Schools, graduating from Ladysmith High School in 1973. Participating in various athletic activities, Larry played on the Junior Varsity Basketball team. He was well loved by his classmates and teachers as well. Larry had a great sense of humor and always had a joke or comical story to share. He joined Oxford Mt. Zion at an early age where he accepted Christ and was baptized. He was active in Sunday School, and attended Vacation Bible School at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Supply, Virginia. In later years, Larry developed a close relationship with Pastor and First Lady Fields of Oxford Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Also making it a practice of reading the Bible and discussing the Word of God with his Aunts and other relatives. Larry was a dedicated worker, beginning employment while in high school at Jerrel’s Truck Plaza. After graduation he was employed by Tyson’s Food, retiring after twenty-five years. While at Tyson’s he developed many close relationships with his co-workers, he was a faithful friend and touched the lives of many. |
