On January 5, 2021, God extended his hands to welcome Darryl Byron Walker into the peaceful gates of Heaven and said, “Well done my good and faithful servant”. Darryl was born February 28, 1964 to the late Allie Sr. and Anastia J. Walker. He was the third of four children. Darryl accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church in Montpelier, Virginia. He received his formal education in Hanover County Public Schools, graduating from Patrick Henry High School in 1982. After high school and a few years employed in the construction industry, Darryl pursued a career in commercial freight hauling. In his spare time and from the home of his parents, he honed his skills as a barber. Perfecting his craft, Darryl completed an apprenticeship and obtained his license as a professional barber. He was very humble, hardworking, and self-disciplined. He took great pride in his work and businesses. Darryl was a devoted father, brother and friend to many. The younger generation affectionately knew him as Pops. Most will remember him as a confidant. He was mild-mannered and genuinely compassionate for everyone he knew. Darryl loved good home-cooked food and visiting with family and friends. Most importantly, he loved his Barber Shop (Mines Hair Design) and his work family. He was proud of his race-car and performances at the drag racing arenas in Dinwiddie, Virginia and Mechanicsville, Maryland. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his supportive friends and fans, along with the tailgating events. Darryl will forever live in the memories of those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Brittni Walker; two brothers, Allie Walker Jr. (Rita) and Deshield Walker (Gretna); sister, Terelle Walker. Two aunts Geneva Coleman and Charlotte Walker; devoted companion Rosita Shelton; godchildren, Keith Shelton, Tanisha Pryor, Bobby Pryor Jr. and Rico Morris Jr.; nieces, Christina Allen and Victoria Walker; nephews, Christopher Walker and Conner Walker. Special family friend, Vera Ferrell and a host of other relatives and friends. Thank you God for his beautiful life and the legacy he leaves behind. |
