David Dabney, Sr 97 entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at his residence. He was born to the late George Harris and Lizzie Dabney. David was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 70 yrs Sylvester A Dabney, two sons Warren J and Hazel E Dabney, one daughter Linda I Ruffin, one sister Irene Moody and a brother. He was baptized and became a member of the St James Baptist Church, Beaverdam, Va where he attended until his health began to fail. His favorite hymns were “Farther Along, Precious Lord Take My Hand, and There’s a Brightside Somewhere”. He was educated in Goochland County Public Schools. After the death of his parents he left school to care for his only sister. He was employed for many years as a laborer for Gilman Lumber Company, Ashland, Va. David was a quiet, hardworking gentle man who gave so much and asked for so little. He loved his family unconditionally. Mr Dabney leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters Regina M Bray (Rev. Karl) and Marie V Iverson, five sons: David L Dabney (Patricia), Clyde C Dabney (Alice), James R Dabney, Allen D Dabney (Tara) and Craig A Dabney. 30 grandchildren, innumerable great-grandchildren and great great- grandchildren, two daughter-in laws Betty and Gloria Dabney, one sister-in-law Rev Iola Smith, one brother-in-law Deacon Spencer Curtis, devoted nieces and family friends Bernice Barham, Janet Waller, Joy Jackson, Jacqueline Green, Nannie Watson, Tomeka Simmonds and Robert Waller and a host of other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. |
