On August 4, 2020, God gently touched Ryland Reginald Braxton, Jr. and closed his eyes. Ryland Braxton, Jr. was a native of Richmond, VA. At the time of his passing he resided in Hampton, VA. Ryland, Jr. was born to the late Ryland Braxton, Sr. and Lucretia Braxton. To his family and friends, he was known as “Rocky”. “Rocky” attended the Hampton School for the Deaf and Blind. Later transferring to Staunton School for the Deaf and Blind, where he graduated. While there he played football for two years and participated in the school’s Drama Club. After graduating, he decided to remain in Norfolk with the Deaf community, later finding employment at Little Creek Naval Base in the galley for 20 years. “Rocky” was fascinated with the Washington Red Skins football team. He enjoyed dancing, singing, giving hugs with a smile, and always making you feel loved. He was a gentle soul and his family was his joy. “Rocky” was preceded in death by his father, Ryland Braxton, Sr. and brother, Christopher. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Lucretia, three sisters, Rosalyn Kimberly (Samuel), and Jennifer, one brother, LeVert (Purtina), several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and his church family from West Hampton Baptist Church in Hampton, VA. |
