Surrounded by his loved ones, Theodore (Teddy) Ervin Gaines of Stafford, Virginia went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 3:00 o’clock in the morning. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Florine Harris, Delores Myers, and Patricia Thomas; grandsons: Elijah and Kahlil. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 22 years Juanita Yvonne Gaines of California; two daughters: Teri Theresa Gaines and Nikia Hovey (David); three grandchildren: DeAnte, Giselle, and Geovanni; two great grandchildren: Zavion and Marley; one sister, Mary A. Gaines; and a host of devoted family members as well as other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to friends: Richard (Daisy) Williams; Earl (Lillian) Whiting; and Freddie West. Teddy, a man of strong faith, was born in Stafford, VA, on September 5, 1941 to the late James and Alberta Gaines. He was the second child of seven children and attended Stafford County Public Schools. He went on to work as a master painter for LOG-E (Electronics) in Springfield, VA for over 20 years. He finished his career as a custodian and retired as a well-respected employee of Prince William County Public Schools in 2006. Within every relationship, Teddy was a loving and devoted man. His selfless acts and compassion for others is the reason why he is revered by so many to this day. Teddy’s heaven on earth was riding his motorcycles. With his hands gripped tightly on the handlebars and the wind in his face, there were few things on earth that could compare to the adrenaline rush, but yet peaceful calm that Teddy felt on every ride. Although he loved his motorcycles (especially his Harley Davidson), he loved the Lord that much more. Even in his final days, Teddy never lost faith in God’s grace, and he knew—without a shadow of a doubt—that the Lord would take him home (a paradise with no more pain and suffering) to take his victory laps on his beloved bike. Teddy will be missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of being in his presence. |
