Roger Bernard Richardson of Montpelier, VA was born on May 2, 1946 to the late Charlie and Hester Richardson of Newport News, VA. Roger entered into eternal rest on November 11, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, VA. He was proceeded in death by his mother, father and siblings: Charlie Jr., Gilbert, Truman, Irving, Ronald, and Evelyn Hill and devoted cousin Larry Doyle.

Roger graduated from Carver High School in Newport News, VA where he played and developed a life-long love for football. He retired from the Department of Defense (Army Airforce Exchange Service) in 2014 after 48 years of dedicated service as a Motor Vehicle Operator, driving over 4 million miles accident free during his career. Roger’s favorite past times were captured in his enthusiasm for cars, riding motorcycles and hunting. He became a member of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia Free and Accepted Masons, Inc. at the age of 29, but was not actively involved at the time of his death. He belonged to a local hunting club and enjoyed many days hunting with friends until his health started to decline. Roger was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board for many years.

Roger married the love of his life, Juanita Nelson, on November 24th, 1979 and they had two daughters. He loved spending time with family, especially his two grandchildren. He leaves a lifetime of memories with his wife of 39 years, Juanita; two children, Titania Lee (Kelvin) and Portia Richardson; two grandchildren, Aniya and Ayden; two brothers-in-law, Keith Nelson (Vera), Wallace Nelson Jr. (Theresa); four sisters-in-law, Faye Nelson, Avis Nelson, Pecora Richardson and Carolyn Richardson; a devoted cousin, Jerry Doyle (Gloria), and host of other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
