Emily was born on January 8, 1933 to the late Lora Tyler Hughes. She departed this life on October 28, 2018. She received her education in the Hanover County Schools.

Accepting Christ as her Savior, at an early age, she was baptized at the Bethany Baptist Church of Montpelier, Va. There she attended and worshipped until her health began to decline.

In her younger years, Emily was employed by the Ashland Shirt Factory and then Holly Farms Poultry currently, Tysons Poultry for many years.

Emily was very observant and loved to talk. Nothing could get by her. She didn’t mind telling you what she wanted you to now, even if it hurt your feelings. She loved to cook and iron and was a great homemaker.

She was the best neighborhood babysitter, known to all the kids as “Nana”. Emily was an extremely kind person and will be truly missed.

Special thanks to the three caregivers that spent time with her: Beth Jackson, Melissa Anderson and devoted, Jennifer Johnson.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of thirty three years, Willie Henderson; mother, Lora Tyler Hughes and two brothers, Charles Tyler and John Hughes.
