Lillie Harris Peyton, age 74, entered eternal rest surrounded by her family early on the morning of September 13, 2018, at Henrico Doctors Hospital-Parham. She was born in Rockville, Virginia to the late William L. Sr., and Mary L. Harris. She was preceded in death by two brothers; William L., Jr., and Horace F. Harris; and a nephew / godson, Paul Cosby, Jr.
Lillie attended the public schools of Hanover County and graduated from John M. Gandy High School, Ashland Virginia, Class of 1963. She furthered her education in Nursing School and began her forty-three-year career in Nursing before her retirement.
Lillie joined the Abner Baptist Church at an early age and was an active member until her health began to fail. She faithfully attended weekly Bible Study and was a dedicated member of several ministries: Women’s, OASIS, Hospitality, Women’s Choir, including serving over 30 years in the Pastor’s Aid Ministry and the former Healthcare Ministry. Lillie performed volunteer work at Laurel University monthly. She was also an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Red Rovers Chapter of the Red Hat Society.
Lillie was united in marriage to Bernard Thomas Peyton, Sr. on June 23, 1973, and they became the proud parents of Darrell Forest and Derrick Orlando Peyton.
She loved people and will be missed by so many. She loved to travel, and her trips carried her across the United States and abroad. Her last trip was a second visit to Okinawa, Japan. When she wasn’t traveling, she loved to watch her favorite TV shows on the Hallmark Channel, Shopping Network, or catching a game of her favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves. Fittingly, Lillie loved angels, and amassed quite a collection of angels over the years.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Bernard T. Peyton, Sr.; two sons, Reverend Darrell F. (Deonna Michelle) and Master Sergeant Derrick O (Kazuna) Peyton; stepson, Bernard T. Peyton, Jr. (Rita); grandchildren, Staff Sergeant Christopher, Christina, Mo’e, Ribu, Bryan, and Jayla Peyton; three sisters, Virginia Mason (Rodman), Gloria Brown, Zelma Cosby (Paul); one brother, Waverly Harris (Irene); one devoted uncle, James Harris, Sr. (Natalie); sister-in-law, Lucy Harris; two brothers-in-law, James Peyton and Melvin Jones, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many devoted friends, and two honorary grandchildren, Kyra and Chavis Taylor.

Mom/I lift Lil’s entire family in prayer as they go thru this most difficult of all times. Not today or even next month, but 1 day God is going to ease your heavy hearts. You WILL be able to remember “lovely Lil” & rejoice in your many memories.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. When someone we love dies, it’s natural to want to see that person again. Many have found comfort in the Bible’s promise of a resurrection.
Notice what John 5:28, 29 says, "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."
God gives us such a meaningful hope to look forward to. And in the meantime he also promises us to comfort us in our trials if we go to him in prayer. 2 Cor 1:3 calls him the God of all comfort.
I hope this was comforting to y'all. Please contact me for more comforting information, or please go to JW.org. Have a nice day.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. Death is never easy, but the true God assures us that we are not alone. As you reflect on the memories you shared, keep in mind Psalm 34:18, God is there for those brokenhearted. Please accept my sincere condolences.
