Derron L. Lott Jr.

Derron LaShaye Lott was born on January 6, 1972 to the late Gwendolyn Geneva and Willie James Lott at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester New York. He went home to glory peacefully on October 6, 2017.

As a spirited, active and fun loving child, Derron spent a lot of time with his family in his early childhood years. Aunts, uncles and cousins alike had the "pleasure" and "tasks" of trying to keep up with him. He grew up closley with his cousin/sister Jaronda Fuller. Their bond was unbreakable to the very end. He enjoyed watching football, both college and the NFL, with the Dallas Cowboys being his all time favorite team, as was his mothers'.

Derron's mother always made sure that he was well educated. He attended the best schools in Rochester, New York in his early years. In 1983 he and his mother relocated to Maryland where he got some of his high school education, went on to attain his GED in Alabama. In 1993 Derron joined the United States Army Reserves where he served for a short time. From there he resided in Maryland, Charlottesville,Virginia, Washington,DC (his stomping grounds) and finally moving to Richmond, Virginia. In 2015 he gained employment at Tyson Foods. He was a dedicated and responsible line worker at Tyson Foods who when described by co-workers and staff was "fun-loving" and "a real cool dude".

Derron knew how to enjoy his life. Although some paths taken were not necessarily good choices, we all have traveled some of the same roads. That never changed the heart of the man he had become. He was complicated at times, but compassionate. Quick tempered, but had a love for all and he loved his music. A good sense of humor and could always bring a smile to your face. Even when he wasn't feeling too good himself.

In 2016 Derron got a call that he would never have expected. He was reunited with his sister, Mrs Tammey Payne that he never had the opportunity to actually meet. Also finding out that he also had nieces, Treshundra, Octavia and Ta'Quia along with Tammey's husband Timothy. He did have opportunities to face time with each other and through many conversations, were able to form a strong bond with them all.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gwendolyn Geneva and Willie James Lott.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons Derron LaShaye Jr, Jamerrion, his daughters Irionna and Sadiya Lott; sister Tammey Payne(Timothy) and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews as well as other family co-workers and friends.
