Youtha Hazel Thacker, 92, of Beaverdam, VA, went into eternal rest to be with the Lord on March 18, 2021. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Youth was born August 15, 1928 to the late Wesley L. Johnson and Louise J. Johnson. She attended Hanover County Public School System. At an early age, Youtha committed her life to the Saviour as she joined Union Baptist Church in Beaverdam, VA. She served as a Deaconess and choir member for many years until her health began to fade.
She was employed at various places. Lastly, she worked as a domestic worker.
Youtha was famous for her cooking, especially for her family. She cherished the times when the family gathered at the house. She loved being in the garden and canning vegetables. She frequently struck up a hymn while doing her work around the house. If ever someone needed something, she never hesitated to give what she could. She had a big heart to help others. She also loved to share stories of family history.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Thacker; one daughter, Diane; two grandsons: Charles Johnson Jr. and Michael Marshall Jr.; five brothers: Russell, Ernest, Harry, Robert, and Clarence; five sisters: Evelyn, Mary Alice, Agnes, Lucy, and Earlene; two daughter-in-laws: Ella Johnson and Doris Marshall.
She leaves to cherish her memory four sons: Charles Johnson of Spotsylvania, VA; Earl Marshall (Cecelia) of Stafford, VA; Benjamin Marshall Jr. (Patricia) of Bumpass, VA; and Michael Marshall of Fredericksburg, VA; four daughters: Janie Johnson (Charles) of Riverdale, MD; Shirley Thomas of Glen Allen, VA; Eula Marshall of Bumpass, VA; and Artie Marshall of Richmond, VA; one stepson: John R. Thacker; two sisters: Elizabeth Robinson of Richmond, VA and Viola Johnson of Beaverdam, VA; one devoted sister-in-law Rosetta C. Johnson of Beaverdam, VA; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; devoted friends Stuart and Katherine Trainham, Page and Marlene Butler, Lucille Pryor, Stephen (Tommy) Jones, and Linda Bennett; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
