Robert L. (“Bobby”) Washington was born on October 11, 1954, to Wynda (“Junie”) Harris, Jr. and Bessie L. Washington. He was raised and reared in the Christian home of the late Herman J. Washington, Jr. and Bessie L. Washington.

On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, Bobby entered into eternal rest. He attended the public schools of Hanover County, Virginia. He was employed by Bear Island Paper Company from August 1980 until the company closed. He then became employed with the Hanover County Public School System until his health failed.

He was married to Sandra D. (Washington) Fleming, and to this union two children were born, Alisha and Candice Washington. With his kind and tender heart, Bobby also took on the responsibility of being a father figure to Traesha, whom he helped raised and recognized as being one of his daughters.

Bobby was a die-hard Cowboys fan. He loved cars and fashion. He would often refer to himself as the “Steve Harvey” of Caroline County. During his spare time, you could always find him washing his cars, cutting grass for family and friends, spending time in Maryland with his children and grandchildren, and of course, shopping for new suits and hats.

He was preceded in death by Wynda Harris, Jr., Herman J. Washington, Jr., Linwood Washington and Sherwood Washington, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memories daughters, Katina “Mikey” Woody of Montpelier, Alisha and Candice Washington and Traesha (Onyeka) Ifeacho all of Maryland; mother, Bessie L. Washington of Noel; eight grandchildren, Evan, Ja’vone, A’niyah, A’layna, A’yiden, A’leigha, Zavaé, and Zyla; sisters, Valerie (Garrett) Reese, of King William, Brenda Washington of Noel, Valencia “Peanut” Harris of Washington, D.C. and Charmin Tillman of Mitcheville, MD.; two brothers, Dallas (Sharon) Washington of Ruther Glen, and Christopher Washington of Stafford; uncles, Oscar (Jane) Washington, Henry (Clara) Washington; special uncle, Aubrey Lee Harris, Jr.; aunts, Ruby (Carroll-deceased) Washington, Gwinette (Sam) Hill, Julia (Joseph-deceased) Washington; a devoted friend, Valerie Armstead; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
