Richard Curtis Willis was born to the late Reid Willis, Sr. and Shirley Ann Willis on April 23, 1970. He was the youngest child born to this union. He departed this life on Friday, June 12, 2020 in Washington, D.C.

Richard was educated in the District of Columbia public school system; a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson Senior High School. Upon graduation, he enrolled in Strayer University to pursue an Associates Degree in Information Technology. Seeing a need to increase his skills and knowledge in information technology, Richard attended the University of District of Columbia and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree May 1996.

Richard worked at Citigroup bank for over sixteen years as a Senior Network Analyst beginning in December 1996. He began his employment at Citigroup’s Data Center located in Silver Spring, Maryland. In 2008 he relocated to Austin, Texas to assist with the opening of Citigroup Georgetown, Texas Data Center site. He remained at this site until March 2014. At the end of this job assignment Richard returned to Washington, D.C.

Fondly called Pee Wee as a child, some of his favorite past times include spending time with his family and sports, namely watching the Washington Redskins. During his time in Texas, Richard indulged in various activities such as golf and hanging out with co-workers at the shooting range. But Richard’s greatest joy was meeting his Texas adopted family, Justin and Tiffany Wright. The family gifted him with his pet cat named Jinx.

Richard accepted Christ at a young age; he was baptized into the fellowship of Canaan Baptist Church located in Washington, D.C. Richard was a faithful member of Canaan; he attended Sunday School and was a former member of the Ushers Ministry and Young Peoples Choral Ensemble. At the time of his death, Richard was a member of the Media and Finance Teams.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Shirley Willis; two brothers Reid Willis, Jr. and Alan Roger Willis; two sisters Denise Annette Pearson and Alana Rene Willis; niece Brandi Christine Pearson; favorite cousin, Arlene Danielle Sanders; godson Xavier Wright and a host of family and friends, who are too numerous to name, but who were special in so many ways.
