For the Final Celebration of Life details for
Percy Hill

Percy Hill Jr. born on September 21, 1936 in Meridian, Mississippi to the late Percy Hill Sr. and the late Carrie (Pratcher) Hill. He made his peaceful journey to the Lord on May 7, 2021 at home in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Percy had been in Hospice care for last eight months due to failing health. Percy was the second oldest of eight children and is preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Percy started serving the Lord at 17 years old when he joined the Greater Hope Baptist Church of Buffalo, where he was baptized by his late uncle, the Reverend John H Monroe.

Percy attended and graduated from the Buffalo Public School system. After graduating from High School, Percy joined the United States Marine Coprs where he served proudly and received his certification as an automobile mechanic. After leaving the Marine Corps in 1956, Percy Married the late Joanne (Blassingame) Hill. This lovely matrimony is accountable for three lovely children and lasted 36 years until her death. Percy later married Sally (Brundidge Bernard) Hill in June of 1995. Percy was forced into retirement because of failing health in 2012. Percy Join the Church of Christ in 2017, and as part of his commitment to his faith and Christ, he was baptized again. As part of the Church of Christ, Percy was an avid tither, always willing to support the Church mission of saving souls and bringing people closer to God. If he believes in a cause, he was willing to put his money where his heart was.

Percy’s precious memory will live forever in the hearts and souls of his beloved family: One son, Phillip (Valencia) of Holiday, Fl. Two daughters, Andrea (Wayne) of Fredericksburg, Va., Tiffany, of Buffalo, NY. He also leave behind one sister, Ella and two brothers, James and Walter.

Eight Grandchildren: Phillip, Jr. (Irama), Jamaal (Brittney), Jarrell (Alison), Joseph (Jennifer), Tyshawn, Courtney, Andria, and Imani. Great Grandchildren: Joshua, Lennon, Armani, Laurenze, Kayden, Hunter, and Leo.

Percy, who is affectionately known as June or Poppy was loved by many. Over the years of June’s life, one thing was constant, his dedication to his family. After leaving employment with the repair shops, he branched off and began working for himself to support his family. He was considered “the neighborhood mechanic”. June, the neighborhood mechanic, felt peace in his heart by bringing smile to his neighbor’s faces as he repaired their cars. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and give sound advice when needed. No matter what type of issue you came to him with, he always had encouraging words that would uplift your spirit. From the Family: June, as God call you to do his work, we will always reflect back on the memory that you left to us to cherish on earth. It is not for us to understand why God called you, it is for us to appreciate the time we had with you on earth. June will be sorely missed by many and hope you will rest in peace.
