Mildred Louise Jackson Wilkerson affectionately known as “Patsy” or “Mildred Louise” to her family was born on February 17, 1942, in King William County, Virginia to the late Willie Carter and Rosetta Taylor. Mildred peacefully went home to be with the Lord in her sleep on October 2, 2024, at her daughter Carmelia’s home.

She grew up in Mangohick and received her education from Hamilton Holmes High School. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at the Mangohick Baptist Church. At the age of nine she began singing in the Phillip Cook Memorial Choir and sang until her health began to decline. She served as a faithful member and President of the Mangohick Missionary Society for 37 years, District President of the Mattaponi Missionary of King William County for 28 years and the Chairman of the Mangohick Hospitality committee for many years. She was known for her sweet potato pies and homemade rolls.

Over the years she served in various capacities; she was employed at Keller Industrial Company for 40 years. After retiring she became a Housekeeper/Caregiver for several years; she always had a true passion for taking care of others. She dedicated 25 years of service as a Poll Watcher for King William County Electoral Department.

Mildred married Elmer Jackson Sr., and from this union three beautiful children were born Elmer Jr., Gladys & Carmelia. On November 21, 1981, she was joined in holy matrimony with the late Willie Wilkerson.

Cherishing Mildred’s precious memories are her devoted children Gladys (William Jr.) Jackson, Carmelia Robinson, and Elmer Jackson Jr. all of Aylett, Virginia. Three devoted grandchildren Keshia Robinson of Aylett, Virginia; Tianya Jackson and William R. Jackson III of Henrico, Virginia. One God daughter Tanicka Heiskell of Chesterfield, Virginia. Three brothers Rev. Dr. W.T. Carter (Cornelia), Joseph Carter and Derick Carter of King William, Virginia. One sister Louise Simmons of Hanover, Virginia.
