Marie Louise Johnson (Patterson, Waller) Valentine, 89, was born in Montpelier, Virginia. She joined Bethany Baptist Church at an early age and was a very active member. Later she moved to Henrico, VA., became a member at Pilgrim Journey Baptist Church, where she served loyally on the Hospitality committee. She loved her church family and participated in several ministries regularly until her health declined.

She was the oldest of four children born to the late Thaddeus and Nancy Johnson. She is survived by her loving sister Nancy Leola Thomas. Her siblings Martha Giles and John Johnson preceded her in death.

She graduated from the Hanover Training School in Ashland, VA., and enjoyed various endeavors during her lifetime. Her personality was outgoing and happy. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling.

Marie married Alvin S. Patterson Sr., and they had six children: Alvin Jr. (Patricia), Ritchie, June Lewis, Nancy Callaway (Clive), Gina Wyatt, and Dolly Neal (Kenneth). Later, she married John Sr. and was a loving mother to John Jr., Hazel Thomas (Robert Sr.), Zoe Best (William), and Kurt “Lonnie” Valentine, Sr. (deceased)surviving wife Jagee.

Marie leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband, John Valentine; her children, and loving sister Nancy Thomas; grandchildren Karen Jeter (Steven), Lauren and Todd Patterson, Felicia Bishop, Ritchie II (Kesorn), Farron Hall (Alex), Holly Patterson, Tiffany Wilson, Krystle Lewis, Apostle Fred Wyatt (Pastor Inger), Brandi Woodson (Derrick), Michael (Ashley) and Matthew Callaway, Kimberly and Alexis Neal, Kesha Valentine, Sharmaine Zamora, Natalie Rogers, Kurt “Alonzo” Valentine II, Sierra and Robert Thomas Jr., James Hicks III, Jamie Hicks, and Evan Heacock. Also, a very dear cousin and cherished friend, Mamie Johnson. Dear cousin Herman Gardner and devoted niece Syliva Ellis and many great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
