Margaret Agnes Green was born May 22, 1931, in Caroline County, VA to the late Howard and Kizzie Green. She was the second of six children. Margaret attended Union High School in Caroline County, VA. After completing high school, she moved to Washington, DC with her cousin Olivia Green, to improve her chances for employment.

Margaret accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and remained faithful until her death. She was a supportive member of Second Mt. Zion church, often returning home to attend church functions and events. Once in Washington, DC, she became a member of Bethel Commandment Church and later joined Beulah Baptist Church, where she was an active devoted member of the Culinary, Nursing and Missionary ministries. She loved Beulah Baptist and participated in the “Recycled Teenager” group with fellow church seniors.

Margaret accepted employment as a live-in babysitter for a family in Arlington, VA. She later began employment at General Services Administration (GSA) as a Messaging Clerk, while working part-time cleaning business offices. From there Margaret became an Elevator Operator at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and advanced to a Mail Clerk at the US Tax Court, delivering the daily mail to Federal Judges and lawyers. With the encouragement from her daughters, she retired from her part-time job and began focusing on vacation time.

After Federal retirement, in 1998, Margaret participated in social groups such as the Eastern Star. She enjoyed travelling on bus trips and ocean cruises. Margaret joined Foster Grandparents, where she loved working with young children in elementary school and later in Daycare caring for toddlers. Margaret attended yearly summer camps sponsored by So Others May Eat (SOME), where she loved participating in the Arts and Crafts workshops.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Kizzie Green; three brothers, Ernest, Howard (Brother) and Robert; sister Elaine Morris (Green); and daughter Melvina Fountain (Green).
On Thursday, March 2, 2023, Margaret departed this life and transitioned to be with the Lord.
