Leonie Joacin was born in Leogane, Haiti on August 12, 1949. She transitioned peacefully from life to death at her home in Illinois on September 10, 2022. She was the 1st of four children born to the late Tercinette Covil and Andre I’Homme Joacin.

Leonie attended school in Haiti and immigrated to the United States in 1980 where she worked tirelessly to bring other family members to the states for a better opportunity. Outside of her missionary work, she maintained employment with Accutime Watch Company in Manhattan, New York where she later retired.

Leonie moved to Virginia in 2007 and held various positions of employment as well as continued missionary work. She consistently sent barrels of food and supplies to Haiti and provided shelter to non-family members in need.

Leonie was preceded in death by her oldest daughter Marie Joacin, two brothers and one sister. She leaves to cherish her memory four biological children Vladimir Joacin (Ebony), Evan Joacin, Joanna Joseph and Johnny Joseph (Jessica) and fostered Valerie Pierre and Michaelle Blanchet. Eight grandchildren Gissel, Amar, Vladimir Jr., Am-yah, Myles, Kaylah, Airanna, and Austin. Two great-grandchildren Corey and Ca’Miyah and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and one devoted fur baby, Shelly.
