To the family of Janie Simmons: Janie was a dear friend of mind. We would greet each other as the other Ms. Simmons. We met when we arrived at the FBI. We remained friends until now. We would meet downtown for lunch, shopping and sometimes just to walk around and sight see. We always had such a great time. Janie would keep us laughing with her great sense of humor. Since we were advised to stay in because of the virus, we started communicating by phone. I would call her to make sure she was following this ruling, because we called her our social butterfly. She was always smiling and willing to help wherever she was needed. I am praying that God will provide the family with blessings of love, peace and comfort. Rest in peace dear friend, until we meet again.

To the Family of Janie Simmons – I worked with Janie for several years; and we were also Best of Friends. She was a Lady of great Wisdom and a very good mentor. She was also an excellent Speaker and read Poems at many of our FBI events. I have enjoyed many lunches and outings with Janie over the years; and we always had a great time. One memorable event was our trip to New York City on the bus. Oh my gosh! We had a great time! And, we had hoped to go back there again as we had such a good time. If you were with Janie, you always had fun and lots of laughing. Loved her smile! I will forever miss her; but God has gained an Angel and I am sure Janie is keeping everyone in Heaven laughing and smiling. Rest in Peace dear friend; until we meet again.

She was such a sweet and kind person, it was just a pleasure to work with her and we would always laugh and talk about our home towns and her being surprised that I have relatives that live there to. May she Rest In Peace in God’s arms.

To the Simmons’ Family, We send Expressions of Sympathy, Love and share your sorrow as you prepare home going services for your loved one , Janie, a Beautiful and Proud African American lady. Words cannot express how devastated we were to hear the sad news. As you reflect on her life, you can remember the good ole days, her hearty laughter, conversations, her beautiful smiles, the special love she had for her family and so many people. Janie was very easy to work with on our Birthday Calendar. She was dedicated and very friendly. Some of the Calendar members and other Canaanites would frequently gather in the Sanctuary after Sunday services and communicate. Janie was always joyful, full of laughter, and ended the gathering with words of encouragement. We will miss her and our fellowships. May it comfort you to know that Janie is laying in the bosom of our Heavenly Father. God has dispatched angels to surround your family as you face the days without your much-loved Janie. Our Prayers are with you, Margaret A. Price , Chairperson for The Birthday Calendar Ministry, Canaan Baptist Church, Washington, D.C.
